Coinbase has reported its financial results for the first quarter (Q1) of 2026, highlighting record crypto trading market share, expanding derivatives activity, and continued growth across stablecoins, onchain services, and decentralized finance products.
According to the company’s Q1 earnings announcement, Coinbase’s crypto trading volume market share reached 8.6%, marking a new all-time high. The company attributed the increase to product expansion and rising adoption of derivatives by both retail and institutional traders.
Coinbase also reported that trailing twelve-month derivatives trading volume increased 169% year-over-year, while retail derivatives generated more than $200 million in annualized revenue, another record for the platform.
Prediction markets also posted rapid growth following their U.S. launch. Coinbase said the product reached more than $100 million in annualized revenue within its first two full months, making it one of the company’s fastest-growing offerings.
The company highlighted continued expansion in stablecoin activity. Coinbase stated that more than 25% of all USDC in circulation, representing approximately $19 billion in average holdings, was held across Coinbaseproducts during the quarter.
Its Ethereum layer-2 network, Base, processed 62% of global onchain stablecoin transaction volume, exceeding all other blockchain networks combined. Coinbase added that more than 90% of onchain agentic stablecoin transaction volume occurred on Base, while over 100 million payments were processed through its x402 protocol, with more than 99% of those transactions settled using USDC.
In decentralized finance, Coinbase reported that decentralized exchange (DEX) trading volume doubled compared to the previous quarter after integrating native DEX functionality into the Coinbase application. The company also recorded $1 billion in year-over-year growth across its Borrow and Lend balances.
Chief Executive Officer Brian Armstrong said the company experienced strong growth in derivatives, stablecoins, and agentic commerce despite broader market conditions. Chief Financial Officer Alesia Haas added that Coinbase has now achieved 13 consecutive quarters of positive Adjusted EBITDA and 12 consecutive quarters of native unit inflows, while expanding its portfolio of revenue-generating products.
Coinbase stated that it remains focused on expanding onchain financial infrastructure as digital asset adoption continues to develop across retail, institutional, and enterprise markets.
